Silverlinjen (Silver Line)

In the Örebro skate park, located in southern-central Örebro, you will find the artwork Silver Line – a fine example of art and site interacting as a whole.
The artists Lena Ignestam and Carina Zunino have taken the skating universe as their point of departure in their works, reflecting the human need to want to challenge the limitations of earth, gravity and the body in the quest to feel the sublime, the magnificent and the uplifting.

They present us with two works of art – The Silver Line gate at the entrance is based on the movement patterns of the skaters, and Volcano, with its cloud of smoke in mosaics at the top of the deepest skate bowl, connects the urban landscape of the skate park with the universe of the sky.

The title of the work is inspired by the proverb ‘every cloud has its silver lining’, a metaphor conveying that even when things seem really bad, there is always the possibility of something good. Behind the clouds hides the sun, and it will break through again.

The skate park was designed by the Finnish landscape architect and former skateboard pro Janne Saario. The artists Lena Ignestam and Carina Zunino were involved early in the planning stages of the park, and several of the materials and colours used for the bowls are based on the artists’ suggestions, giving the park its unique expression.

Lena Ignestam and Carina Zunino have been working together since 2013 and have collaborated on several works throughout Sweden and Denmark. They are based in Malmö and Copenhagen.
