Lövkoja (Leaf hut)

When you enter Stadsparken from the south, you are met by a mosaic sculpture. It was made by Kerstin Hörnlund and has stood there since 2011. This is a sculpture that is not only nice to look at, but also nice to sit on. It is namely also a sofa, which you can cosy down in and have a rest on your way in or out of the park.

The mosaic reflects the park’s greenery and floral splendour, making it as if the bench was clothed in the very environment in which it stands. On the front of the bench, the mosaic is in green, white and blue tones, while on the back, the colours shift to hues of orange and red. The mosaic not only describes the park’s flora, but also the changes of the seasons as a reminder of the passing and rebirth of all things.

Kerstin Hörnlund was born in 1940. She studied at Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design in the early 1960s and since then has worked in ceramics of various forms. In the 1980s, she worked for porcelain manufacturer Rörstrand and her work is represented at such venerable institutions as the Swedish National Museum of Art and Design and the Röhsska Museum of Design and Craft.

The artworks in Stadsparken are a collection of sculptures from the 1950s through today. The works were purchased by Örebro Läns Trädgårdsaktiebolag, which continues to fill Örebro’s green spaces with art.
