Lilla regnet (Little Rain)

Three bronze formations stand in a group on a lawn. Each unit consists of a softly shaped roundel with wavy outer edges that are the size of a saddle and also somewhat reminiscent of one in shape. Two of these rounds are bright light blue while the third has retained its original bronze color. Each round is supported by five or more narrow and ribbed bronze bars. The rounds are quite small in relation to the long, thin rods. Maybe they are reminiscent of jellyfish or clouds?

Bronze clouds, two of which are blue and one has the brown color of the bronze. The clouds stand on high pillars that protrude into the lawn.

What colour are clouds? They are often depicted as white, but what colours are they really? And what colours feel cloudy?

One day while the artist, Johan Ledung, was cleaning out a storeroom, he found some old drawings that his children had done. In these, the clouds were blue. When Ledung was considering his contribution to the Lilla Å sculpture riverwalk, he took inspiration from his children’s drawings and made clouds in bronze. He painted two of them blue and left one in its original bronze colour. The clouds rest on tall bronze rays of rain protruding into the lawn. Blue flowers of the Siberian squill variety have been planted around them. They like the rain, you see.

Johan Ledung lives and works in Örebro. He started out as a furniture maker but realized after a few years that he couldn’t resist the desire to let loose his artistic creativity. He has now been working for many years as a self-taught artist. He sees himself primarily as a painter, but also works extensively with installations. Recurring materials in his works are acrylic glass and saplings. He paints on the glass, often on both the front and back sides, and with the saplings he makes sensitively sprawling sculptures.

Ledung found his own expression long ago, but points out Ragnar Sandberg and Paul Klee as artistic soul mates who were important for him in his youth. His own work is characterized by poetic, often meditative tones. He hopes that viewers will “stop, take a deep breath, sit down, marvel and maybe smile. And when they walk away, hopefully it will be a little more slowly than when they came.”
