In Norrbyskolan's schoolyard, a lamppost in shiny pastel pink metal extends towards the sky. Twelve different shapes, also in metal and in different pastel colors, are attached to the upper half of the post and point in different directions. The shapes are abstract. A blue shape near the top can be said to bring to mind an old steel clothes hanger, one resembling a hand with three pointing fingers.

There is also an unnamed street sign. A pair of round, flat shapes with mirror glass reminiscent of dental mirrors. The paving stones of the sidewalk can be seen in the downward-facing mirror surfaces.

A streetlamp rises high above the schoolyard outside Norrbyskolan. This is no ordinary streetlamp, though, but a work of art. From the pink post protrude twelve different shapes. Some look to be line drawings made in the air, while other shapes are solid.

The flat shapes point in different directions out from the post, almost like street signs pointing the way to something. But if ordinary signs are easy to interpret, Pia König’s images are designed as clues to their possible meanings. The contours are clearly drawn yet still wide open for interpretation. At the very bottom is a yellow hand, but what do you see in the blue shape at the very top? Or in the black-and-white shape nearest the hand?

The artist sees the images as the beginning of a story that continues out into the surrounding environment.

Anyone standing below the sculpture and looking at the enigmatic contours also gets the chance to see themselves at a rather unusual angle. On a couple of the protruding parts, the artist has attached mirrors pointed at the ground. The artwork also contains a light show for special occasions.
