Svampen — possibly the most visited water tower in the world!

The water tower of Svampen (the Mushroom), was inaugurated in May 1958, and ever since has been one of the most popular visitor attractions in Örebro. Over the years it has given some 8 million people the opportunity to see Örebro from on high. Perhaps, indeed, it is the most frequently visited water tower in the world! Nowadays Svampen acts as a centre for different kinds of experience, Aqua Nova, with multimedia shows, an experimentarium, a conference area and Café Nova with its marvellous views. And of course the inhabitants of Örebro still obtain their drinking water from the big Svampen reservoir.

Café Nova is modern, and has a deliberate policy of seasonally-adapted menus and high quality food. You can sit comfortably in original chairs, specially designed in the 1950s, and have a wonderful view of Örebro and its surroundings. Here too you can enjoy a good lunch or a cup of coffee with homemade cakes. Café Nova can also offer theme meals and sensory training in wine tasting, whisky tasting, and the tasting of water.
