Higher education and workforce

Higher education - learning for life

Örebro is a city of learning. There are many options for upper secondary school studies, and Örebro University has more than 14,500 students, 80 study programmes and 800 single-subject courses.

Academia and the local authorities both understand the synergies of working to meet the needs of local business. The university liaises closely with robotics companies to pioneer research. Logistics companies in Örebro already employ some 4,000 people, and the local authority is investing in education and training at various levels in more of the key skills these companies require.

Örebro University has developed individual courses in logistics. The ambition is clear - good access to skills and expertise in logistics and transport for companies in this key area of local business.

Workforce - good access to key skills

With a relatively young demographic profile and around one third of the workforce with post secondary school education, Örebro offers good access to a young, well educated workforce.

The region´s importance as a logistics hub is reflected in high local levels of skills and education in transport and logistics. But trade and industry here has a much broader base, and the university´s students and new graduates are a welcome source of skills for local employers in all their diversity, both in the public and private sector.

Good communications facilitate mobility within the region, and the vibrant job market in Örebro is increasingly attracting new residents and rising numbers of inward commuters.
